Arborfield Green celebrates annual Emergency Services Day with family fun

Arborfield Green proudly hosted Emergency Services Day on Thursday 31st October. The annual event, which was previously run by Thames Valley Police, was passed to the Arborfield Green Events Committee this year. Working in close partnership with Crest Nicholson, Redrow, Millgate Homes, Romans, and Wokingham Borough Council, the event was a roaring success for all at Arborfield Green, with over 1000 people attending.

Construction vehicles from on-site contractors Lawson and NATTA were available for children to climb on and take pictures with, while dog training demonstrations were underway in the studio – much to the delight of the families present. The Search and Rescue teams, along with their incident support vehicles, rafts and other equipment, made for impressive displays, and even produced very realistic fake wounds for visitors in preparation for Halloween! The small animal farm, kindly sponsored by Romans, was a huge hit too, as families met goats, sheep, chickens and a pony. When it came to catering, there was something for every taste with teas, coffees, burgers, chips, hotdogs, sweet and savoury crepes, ice cream and a sweet van! There was even something a little stronger available, courtesy of Siren Craft Brewery.

Sammie Bryans, Development Director for Crest Nicholson said:

“It was great to see so many families come along for our Emergency Services Day. We are very proud to host this event with our development partners each year in Arborfield Green, and this year was even more poignant as we collected £251.53 in donations for the family of PC Harper.”

Mark Vanson, Regional Sales Director at Redrow Southern Counties, said:

“The emergency services are an integral part of any community, helping to educate and keep local people safe. Events like this are a great way to acknowledge this and celebrate the work of our emergency services teams. It’s a fantastic honour to host such a long-standing community event at Arborfield Green, and we are proud to support it.”

Alan Dearing, Sales Manager at Millgate Homes, commented:

“Millgate Homes are extremely excited to be part of the Arborfield Green Community with our new offering of homes at Hilborn. Events like Emergency Services Day are a great example of what this thriving Garden Village community has to offer, and we are very grateful for the opportunity to be part of it.”
