Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue (BLSR) will soon be moving into new premises at Arborfield Green after award-winning developers Crest Nicholson found them a temporary home within the former garrison site.
At the end of last year, BLSR were in desperate need of premises to operate from, and after a plea was aired on BBC Radio Berkshire, Crest Nicholson stepped in to provide a suitable building for their use. On Saturday 24th March, the charity began to move into their new premises at Arborfield Green – an old grounds maintenance building which was brought back into use ready for their occupation.
BLSR works in partnership with Thames Valley Police to search, locate and rescue high risk vulnerable missing persons, such as children and those living with dementia. A great deal of equipment is required to help manage the searches and the facility at Arborfield Green will provide a versatile storage space and ideal base for the charity.
Anil Bungar, Senior Development Director for Crest Nicholson said:
‘We are delighted to have been able to help Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue, at a time when they themselves were in real need. This team of volunteers have such a vital and important role in the local community and we look forward to welcoming them to Arborfield Green.’
Kris Manning, Chairman of Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue said:
“We are extremely grateful to Crest Nicholson for their generous support and also excited about joining the Arborfield Community. Having all of our vehicles and equipment located at a single base will enable a quicker response and in our world that means better outcomes for Search & Rescue incidents.”
